Wonderfruit 2025: UNIT-4 at Asia's largest culmination of art, music, culture & nature

Once a year in the dry season, a mosaic of art, music and culture sprouts from the ground amongst the banana palms and rice paddies of Chon Buri, Thailand: Wonderfruit Festival. 

Drawing 25,000+ attendees from more than 140 countries, this is an event renowned for its commitment to environmental responsibility, a melting pot of talent and a frenzy of musical-based performances; whether it be ambient or thumping tech-breaks.

Spanning 99 hours over five days, Wonderfruit’s 2024 edition was a seamless and exciting partnership for AIAIAI that we look forward to deepening as we bring our message of quality sound, liberation and sustainability to Thailand and other parts of Asia.

For the festival's ninth edition, AIAIAI was invited to showcase our UNIT-4 Wireless+ speakers. This saw us integrate low-latency wireless audio into the weekend programming at Unconditional Space: a permanent venue and festival stage delivering daily orchestrations of mystical traditions, artistic gestures and social sciences. Circular, crafted from the earth it stands on, and with a thatched bamboo roof dotted with colourful light wells, Unconditional Space is a vision of thoughtfulness, freedom and fun.

Each afternoon, listeners gathered on red cushions – some stretched out in deep relaxation, others perched upright with a coconut in hand – to immerse themselves in ‘Ancestral Forest Cycle’, a sonic journey by MSCTY_Studio led by Grammy-nominated producer Nick Luscombe, this time partnering with the acoustic talents of James Greer.

Subtle yet powerful, and with exceptional sound quality, a number of AIAIAI UNIT-4 Wireless+ speakers were purposely placed around the tiers of the sunken amphitheatre to help bring this incredible installation even closer for listeners.

Pieced together with recordings from this emerging greenery, and interspersed with fleeting sounds from The Fields intended to mirror the thoughts that enter our minds when we are still, MSCTY_Studio’s offering was a cool bath for the ears and a rest for the soul.

“Part of our new collaboration with Wonderfruit; Sonic Minds combines sound, science, and ancient wisdom. With our ‘Ancestral Forest Cycle’ as its base the backdrop of ambisonic recordings merging them w/ a series of fleeting moments in sound captured by participants during Sonic Minds Camp 2024–manipulated and treated to represent the sounds and thoughts we experience in meditation, to create a gentle meditation on the daily natural events and cycles of nature within the fields ecosystem.“

Made from 100% recycled consumer-based plastics and without using any glue; due to its toxicity to the planet – UNIT-4 allows for complete disassembly, component replacement and works on a ‘right to repair’ design ethos – the wireless speakers turned out to be a dream fit for a meditative experience in this iconic structure.

In particular, the durability, portability and wirelessness made the UNIT-4 ideal for an evolving outdoor environment – where dragonflies flit and music lovers congregate in every direction.

AIAIAI’s philosophy interweaves beautifully with that of Wonderfruit Festival, whose practices include eco-friendly stage and stall construction, carbon off-setting, landfill-minimising waste management, and the use of renewable energy throughout. 

AIAIAI mirrors this ethos, with UNIT-4 Wireless+ speakers offering uncompromised sound quality while promoting a repairable and waste-conscious model of production, further building on a global shift towards responsible consumer technology; a journey they embarked upon via their headphone models in 2010.
